Hey y’all, Carson here! I’m so excited to share my first post with you, and the many more to come!

Fall is officially upon us! That means it’s time to switch out our wardrobes and put all of our lovely summer frocks away until next year, right? No ma’am! It’s time to shop our own closets and re-purpose a few of our favorite summer pieces. Here are a few summer staples that can make an encore in your wardrobe this fall:

1.) Short summer dresses: Did you have one (or several) tank, sheath, or short- sleeve dresses that you couldn’t get enough of this summer? Give them new life (and new warmth!) by pairing them with a couple fall favorites. Wear with tall boots to cover the majority of your legs, and a leather, utility or jean jacket to give you plenty of coverage. You can also add a scarf for extra warmth, polish and and flair. This look on Rumor Willis is a perfect example.

2.) Basic cotton t-shirts: Not only can you wear your favorite t-shirts and tank tops during the cooler months, but you can easily dress them up! Of course you could layer the t-shirt with a boyfriend blazer and jeans for a relaxed and casual look, but why not step it up a notch? Try tucking the t-shirt into a great pair of tailored pants or a high-waisted skirt. The key with this look is to choose your t-shirt wisely: make sure it’s at least semi-fitted (this is not the time to steal one of your man’s baggy t-shirts!). Add an mixed-media statement necklace for a sophisticated edge.

3.) Sleeveless Jumpsuits: Who else loved all the jumpers that were trending this summer? Keep them going strong into fall by adding a little something extra. Find a textured jacket or blazer to throw on top (use one of your pantsuit separates or winter blazers). Just be sure your selection is a cropped or a tailored version; we don’t want to interfere with the long and lean silhouette of the jumper! See how a similar jumpsuit is styled differently on Gwyneth Paltrow and Kristen Bell. Kristen is ready for fall by adding a sparkling blazer, and swapping the sandals for pumps.

4.) Hats: Remember that wide-brimmed hat or fedora you wore to block the summer sun? Hats can be the perfect accessory to top off a fall outfit. Just make sure to mind the material; stay away from hats that are strictly for summer, such as woven straw or grass. Rosie Huntington Whitley looks effortlessly chic (as always) in this look.

Although these are just four easy ideas, I hope it encourages you to see items in your closet in a new light. Sometimes refreshing your wardrobe can be as easy as reusing things you already have in an unexpected way!
