Orange is the new Black: OOTD

Hello lovelies!

Summer temperatures are finally starting to cool down – can you believe it!? It’s almost time to break out our transitional pieces – lightweight jackets, jeans and booties.

I bought this top a month or so ago, and still haven’t worn it outside of this photoshoot! Hoping I can get more usage in before the end of the month.

I fell in love with the color, first and foremost. I also love the cascading ruffles! Just enough visual detail without overwhelming or adding bulk to my frame. Be mindful of ruffles! Placement and proportion are key.

My earrings were NO JOKE $6.99, ya’ll. Not even real! There’s a place in St. Louis called ABC Trading Company I used to go to all the time in high school when I had a very limited shopping budget. I stopped by recently just for fun – so much nostalgia! Ended up picking up several pairs of fun earrings. Love how the turquoise highlights and contrasts with my orange top!

My Mexican-inspired sandals are Sam Edelman from last summer – a great pair of heels to wear to elevate any solid basics you have, i.e. a dress or blouse. Love the beading, mirrors, and lace-up straps!

I paired this look with my Steve Madden clutch from Nordstrom – it really brings together all of the elements in my outfit. It was less than $75 – holla!

My good friend Jess Boheim did my hair, and I LOVE this style, ya’ll. It’s actually much easier than it looks – take a 2-3 inch section of hair along the hairline on your part-heavy side. Do an inside out (Dutch) braid along the hairline, then pin it back. Pancake the braid (pull it apart) to make it look thicker. A great everyday style that’s easy to do if you want to shake it up!

Who’s ready for cooler weather, leather jackets and scarves? This girl!

Stylishly yours,
